Shape-shifting colloidal structures driven by active matter.
Passive particles and shaped objects immersed in a suspension of active swimmers experience effective forces of completely different nature with respect to thermal ones, giving rise to new and unusual phenomena. I will report on numerical studies of systems composed by interacting colloidal particles immersed in a bath of run-and-tumble swimmers, focusing on the emergent dynamical behavior, fluctuations and aggregation properties. I will show that active matter is able to shape the passive matter and drive the spontaneous formation of emerging complex structures.
