A real-time tracking device for LHCb phase-II upgrade.

An Expression Of Interest has recently been put forward by the LHCb collaboration, for an experimental programme aiming at a fuller exploitation of the Flavor physics potential of the HL-LHC. In this context, an innovative device has been proposed, to perform real-time track reconstruction in the downstream region of the LHCb detector, thus increasing the acceptance for reconstruction of long-lived particles, while freeing computing resources of the processor farm for higher level tasks. We describe the architecture of the system and the performance measured on prototypes developed in the past two years within the INFN RETINA project.
