Wind-LIDAR observations and high-resolution modelling of a wind jet at the exit of the Isarco Valley (Italy).

The Isarco Valley is one of the main tributary valleys that feed into the Bolzano basin (Central Italian Alps). Recently it was observed that the nocturnal drainage flow at the exit of the Isarco Valley behaves like a low-level jet. From January to March 2017 a Doppler Wind-LIDAR was installed at the outlet of the Isarco Valley, in order to monitor the wind field. In addition, high-resolution numerical simulations were performed with the WRF model, in order to get a complete three-dimensional picture of the development of the valley exit jet. In this contribution some preliminary results are presented.
