Study and design of Drift Chambers for the FOOT experiment.

The main goal of the FOOT (FragmentatiOn Of Target) experiment is to measure the inelastic reaction cross sections for beams of different types (protons, ions) and energies impinging on targets which are relevant for particle therapy applications. The experimental setup includes two drift chambers and their design is currently being optimised. One will be used as the incoming beam monitor, while the other will be part of a high-precision magnetic tracking system developed for the fragments momentum measurements. In this contribution, the drift chambers Monte Carlo optimisation study and the track reconstruction algorithm performances will be reviewed.
