Using network theory to identify cancer driver genes.
The identification of cancer driver genes is one of the most important open problems in cancer biology. From a physicist point of view it is also a perfect laboratory to test the performances of theoretical tools like network theory or the theory of stochastic processes to address complex biological problems. In this talk we discuss a few different strategies to identify these cancer drivers starting from transcriptional data and combining them with genomic information form public databases.
