Top quark physics at LHC.

Due to its large mass, the top quark plays a key role in this quest for a deeper understanding of nature. We are learning a lot about this particle through precision measurements at LHC, and are expanding the sensitivity range for new physics searches in top quark final states. Our current understanding of the top quark is therefore presented, together with its role in finding new physics, revealing the nature of fundamental forces. An overview of top-quark measurements performed by the two general-purpose detectors ATLAS and CMS during the first few years of running of the Large Hadron Collider is followed by the presentation of the future LHC program for top quark physics.
