Perspectives in gravitational-wave research.

  Lunedì 11/09   14:30 - 18:30   Aula A203   III - Astrofisica
The first detection of the gravitational-wave signal emitted in the coalescence of a binary black hole system opened a new era in Astrophysics: the gravitational-wave astronomy era. The current network of Advanced detectors is the first step in this new adventure and an impetuous evolution of the gravitational-wave detectors is expected in the next decade: new projects are growing behind the pioneer idea of a 3rd generation of GW observatory defined by the Einstein Telescope design study. In this talk the scientific motivations, the technologies and the possible organisation of a 3rd generation of GW observatories will be discussed.
