Update on the most general searches for transient gravitational waves from LIGO-Virgo Collaborations.
Lazzaro C. per la Collaborazione LIGO-Virgo
The first data taking of the new generation of gravitational wave detectors brought to the first detections of transient gravitational waves (GWs). Searches for generic transient GWs are designed to be sensitive to signals emitted by a wide variety of different astrophysical sources, and, therefore, a minimal assumption about the signal morphology can be made. We will report on the results of generic transient searches from all-sky directions in the first observations run of Advanced LIGO, using the coherent wave burst (cWB) algorithm. The monitored frequency band is 32 Hz--4 kHz and the duration of the signal spans from few ms to hundreds of seconds.
